Jeff Fisher: Maybe we'd start Jared Goff if we'd traded our starter

As anyone who's followed the Eagles over the last week knows, No. 2 overall pick Carson Wentz will be starting the opener against the Browns after Sam Bradford was jettisoned to Minnesota.

But the No. 1 overall pick will be the third string QB to start the year.

Jared Goff has been relegated to holding the clipboard for the Rams with veteran QB Case Keenum taking the start. However, Rams' coach Jeff Fisher isn't hearing any of the comparisons between Goff and Wentz' situations.

"Maybe if we traded our starting quarterback, we'd start our rookie quarterback, too," Fisher said to NFL.com.

Ironically enough, the Rams reportedly had the chance to trade their starter this offseason. Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that the Denver Broncos, who won last night behind the inexperienced Trevor Siemian, conducted trade talks with the Rams about Keenum.

The Rams wanted large player or pick compensation in order to trade Keenum (sound familiar?), so Keenum is staying put. And, therefore, Goff remains firmly planted on the bench in Week 1.
