Kimmo Timonen after winning Cup: ‘The Flyers are my team'

If Philadelphia Flyers fans could ever be happy for a player not wearing orange and black winning a Stanley Cup, it's Kimmo Timonen.

The old vet sat down with Comcast SportsNet's John Clark to talk about the wild ride he went on this season, from his career nearly being over due to blood clots, talking to doctors about potentially putting his life in danger if he ever played hockey again, to having to convince Ron Hextall to allow him another chance to hoist the Cup, to the exact moment he realized it was going to happen.

Kimmo's telling of it is fantastic. And he still has mad love for the Flyers organization which he hopes to one day be a part of again.

"Flyers have a special place in my heart. Hopefully, hopefully we can do this. I'd like to be a part of it someday. The Flyers are my team. This place has something amazing. The parade we had Thursday in Chicago, that's something every player should see and experience; it's unbelievable. I can only picture if that should happen [in Philadelphia], it would get so crazy."
