Marlon Byrd absolutely destroyed a three-run home run in the top of the eighth inning to tie the game up with the Marlins and give the Phillies life. But after Mike Adams put in some work, Jake Diekman was not able to hold on and allowed the Marlins to walk it off. Typically when you point fingers at the Phils' pen this season, Diekman isn't the one to blame. Today was not his day.

Byrd's home run made things interesting for a short while, however. ESPN Stats and Info says it's the longest home run hit by a Phillies player in years. It went 442 feet to dead center.

The Marlins young outfield is a thing to envy.

The Phils fall to 20-24 on the season, a worst spot that they were in either of the two previous seasons, as Phillies beat writer Matt Gelb points out: in 2012 and 2013 the Phils were 21-23 through 44 games.

Less than mediocre.

They're now headed home to start a holiday weekend set with the Dodgers tomorrow night.
