A pair of high school players with Eagles connections officially signed with their respective universities on Wednesday.

Jon Runyan Jr. has followed his father to Michigan, and current offensive coordinator Pat Shumur's son Kyle will attend Vanderbilt.

Runyan will play on the offensive line for first-year coach Jim Harbaugh. Having helped St. Joe's prep to two straight PIAA Class AAAA state championships, Runyan Jr. was ranked by Rivals.com as the 45th best offensive lineman nationally and 15th best player in Pennsylvania.

His father anchored the Eagles' O-line for nine seasons.

As La Salle college high school's starting quarterback the last two seasons (he transferred from St. Edwards in Cleveland), Shurmur posted a 16-6 record while throwing for 4,996 yards with 53 touchdowns.

As a senior, Shurmur (6-4, 215) was named the Maxwell Club's Player of the Year for the state of Pennsylvania. He also was a standout swimmer, helping La Salle win the state title last year.

Among those schools he also considered were Pittsburgh, Illinois, Cincinnati and Central Florida.
