OAKLAND, Calif. -- Marion Grice scored on an 11-yard run with 31 seconds left and the Arizona Cardinals beat the Oakland Raiders 30-23 on Sunday night in an exhibition game where both first-team offenses struggled.

The Raiders (1-2) got five field goals from Sebastian Janikowski in the first half but didn't get into the end zone until Matt McGloin led an 83-yard drive late in the fourth quarter. He capped it with a 4-yard TD pass to Kris Durham with 2:18 left and Oakland tied it when McGloin connected with Brice Butler on the 2-point conversion.

Logan Thomas answered by leading the winning drive with help from a 38-yard pass to Ifeanyi Momah.

Carson Palmer threw two interceptions and was sacked three times in a rough first half for the Cardinals (1-2) (see full recap).

Hoyer leads 3 scoring drives as Texans beat Saints
NEW ORLEANS -- Brian Hoyer sounded pleased about his first game as the Houston Texans' designated starter.

Ryan Mallett, meanwhile, looked determined not to let his disappointment linger over his relegation to a backup role.

Hoyer led scoring drives on two of his three series on Sunday, and the Texans went on to a 27-13 preseason victory over the inconsistent and undisciplined New Orleans Saints.

"It's good to come out and start the game and move the ball like we did," Hoyer said. "That means what we are doing is moving the team in the right direction."

All three Houston quarterbacks led scoring drives. Mallett threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Jaelen Strong, and afterward downplayed the anger he'd expressed at the initial news that Hoyer was named the starter over him.

"There was nothing to put behind me," Mallett said. "I felt like we went out there and executed our game plan and we moved the football and scored some points on them."

Houston's third-string quarterback, Tom Savage hit rookie Chandler Worthy for a 6-yard score in the fourth quarter (see full recap).
