NLCS & beyond: Will you watch?

Share

Over the weekend, in a vain attempt to clear our heads by marinating them in no small amount of sunshine and beer, some friends took a day trip to the shore. My buddies were pretty broken up about the Phillies, and a quick get away seemed necessary for everyone's mental health.

They're hardcore baseball fans, my friends. They're the type of guys who will watch a bad out-of-town game in the middle of the summer for no other reason than it's nationally televised, and they've been in a no-nonsense fantasy baseball league for more than a decade.

And yet most of them swore they won't watch the NLCS or ALCS. Too painful, they said. My buddy Stehle claims he won't watch the World Series, either. He said he needs a long break, that he's taking a mental vacation from baseball and he's not sure when he'll be back.

I'm wondering how many other people feel the way he does. The NLDS was dreadful stuff for Phils fans in too many ways to recount, but the NLCS and ALCS feature excellent matchups. Will you watch -- or, like Stehle, do you plan to head off and tend to still-raw wounds until further notice?
