Ottawa Is Coming to Town

Tonight the Flyers take on the Senators in their final game before the holiday break.  The home team has been in a bit of a slump the past week, at least compared to their last two months of hockey, going 1-1-1 since beating the Avs.  Of course, between tough road losses against the Canadiens and then a shootout with the Devils, the Flyers sprinkled in that 7-1 romp on home ice against the Caps.

The Senators have been one of the dominant teams in the East for years, but they are currently last in the Northeast Division at 12-14-5.  The Flyers have done a nice job at handling some of the weaker clubs, but Ottawa still has some firepower with their leading goal scorers Dany Heatley and Jason Spezza.

Scottie Upshall will miss the game due to a sprained right knee, but the injury doesn't appear to be serious and he is expected back on the ice in about two weeks.  Meanwhile, Marty Biron is back on skates after recovering from a long battle with the flu, but the goalie will get a few more days to rest, and Nittymaki makes his fifth start in a row.  The backup has done a fantastic job in 14 games so far this year, and the Flyers have to be very comfortable with their goalie situation.

Game starts at 7:00, and enjoy tonight's games while you can.  No Philly teams will be in in action (live) for the next two nights.
