The movie "Race" focuses on the legendary achievements of U.S. Olympian Jesse Owens.

CSN's Jen Daniels was on the red carpet at the Prince Theater Thursday night for an advanced screening of the film. She caught up with Owens' granddaughter, Gina Strachan, who spoke glowingly of the Focus Features film.

"We are just overwhelmed with pride, overwhelmed with gratitude," Strachan said. "Focus Features and the producers have done a tremendous, tremendous job portraying a real authentic and aspiring story about my granddad."

Owens competed in the 1936 Summer Olympics in Berlin, Germany. This was during the time when Adolf Hitler was in power and believed his German athletes were superior. Owens took home four gold medals and was a trailblazer for African-American athletes.

"Race" will be out in theaters everywhere on Friday. For more from the red carpet, check out the video above.
