West Coast Night Games Make Me Sleepy

Share

I've been rather unproductive here on the level this week, partly because I've never fully recovered from last weekend's Deadspin Pants Party and also because Matt P. is taking unpaid vacation from the level to go watch baseball up at Fenway park.

Add to that the Phillies have been playing night games on the West Coast and that's an recipe for me missing lots of baseball.

Cole Hamels pitched a gem last night, only allowing one run through 7 innings.  His efforts were not enough.  Padres' stud Chris Young blanked the Phils.

The Phils stand 6 back of the Mets and things aren't looking very promising.  But it's the same old story in the NL.  Nobody is really good, so if the Phils could pull of a hot streak of 8 wins in 10 games or so, they're right back in the mix.

Tonight's match up puts former Phillies prospect Justin Germano up against current crappy Phillie pitcher Adam Eaton.  Would have been nice to have Germano and his 3.55 ERA in the Phils rotation, wouldn't it?
