Winston Justice's Worst Nightmare Is Over

The New York Giants chances of repeating just took another hit.  Osi Umenyiora has been lost for the season with a torn MCL he suffered in Saturday's preseason game against the Jets.  The Giants defensive line already bid farewell to Michael Strahan, who decided to ride off into the sunset with a championship, and at this late date, a comeback seems a unlikely.  (Thanks to Bryan in the comments)

In related news, Redskins DE Jason Taylor also went down with a knee injury on Saturday.  The team is calling the damage a sprain, which of course is far less severe, but sometimes can take months for a player to fully recover from.  Their defensive line has already taken its share of lumps since camp opened, losing ends Phillip Daniels and Alex Buzbee for the season.  The team also endured a bruised pride in the 47-3 loss to the Panthers.  Ouch.

We'll detail both team's chances in this week's season preview.
