Wagner's Already Complaining About the '08 Mets

It's an early spring for the seeds of discontent in New York, as Billy Wagner has begun bemoaning the loss of Tom Glavine (whom the Mets had pretty much no shot at re-signing, as he wants to wind down his career in Atlanta). Via Metsblog and Surfing the Mets, we have the following Wagner wisdom:

The closer told the Mets’ Web site: “Someone asked me what I thought of
our team. I said, ‘What team?’ We’ve lost 13 games [Glavine’s victory
total], and now we are going have to give up something to get those
games back. I’m afraid we’re just going to create other holes if we
give up a [Lastings] Milledge, a [Mike] Pelfrey or a Heilman. I’m
trying to be positive. I’m saying we have some good players. But I’m
worried. The Braves are getting better, and the Phillies made a move
[acquiring Brad Lidge]. We’ve brought back some people, and that’s
good. But losing Tom is big. It’s a lot more than the 13 games he won..."

Yeah I'd rather have our team's vocal leader saying we may see 100 wins. The comments over at Metsblog are a good read.

I don’t wonder anymore why Wagner has been an outcast in every clubhouse he has been in.

This could get interesting.

Today's lineup: Jorge Alfaro returns as Phillies go for sweep of Dodgers

After getting hit by a pitch on the hand on Tuesday night, catcher Jorge Alfaro is back in the lineup for the Phillies, who are aiming for a four-game sweep of the Dodgers.

On Wednesday, Alfaro was replaced by Andrew Knapp, who had one hit in three at-bats in a rare start.

Freddy Galvis, hitless in his last two games, is 4 for 7 with a homer and three RBIs against Dodgers starter Kenta Maeda.

For the first time in the last several weeks, cleanup hitter Rhys Hoskins is not in the spotlight for the Phillies. Instead, the attention has been on Aaron Altherr, who will try to finish an impressive series in style. Altherr, who hits fifth again on Thursday, is 5 for 11 with three homers and nine RBIs in the first three games against Los Angeles.
