BOX SCORE

NEW YORK — The New York Mets completed another series domination of the Phillies with a 7-0 win at Citi Field on Wednesday afternoon.

Mets hitters belted four home runs and rookie fireballer Noah Syndergaard was overpowering on the mound and at the plate. In addition to notching the win, he had three hits, including the first home run of his career.

The Phillies were shut out for the fifth time this season. They have been held to two or fewer runs 19 times in 49 games.

Syndergaard pitched 7⅓ scoreless innings, did not walk a batter and struck out six. He and Jacob deGrom, Tuesday night’s starter, combined to pitch 14⅔ innings in the final two games of the series. They allowed a total of 12 singles and two runs. They walked none and struck out 15.

The Phillies are 1-8 against the Mets this season and 7-21 over the last two. The Phils have lost seven straight series to the Mets for the first time ever.

Starting pitching report
Phillies starter Sean O’Sullivan (1-4) was no match for the Mets’ bats. He was tagged for 11 hits and seven runs in 5⅔ innings. Four of the hits were home runs. He has surrendered nine homers in 33⅔ innings this season.

Syndergaard’s fourth big-league start was his best yet. The 6-foot-6 right-hander allowed six singles, no walks and struck out six. His fastball reached 100 mph in the first inning and was consistently in the mid-to-high 90s.

The Mets got Syndergaard, 22, in the Dec. 2012 trade that sent pitcher R.A. Dickey to the Blue Jays. The Mets also reaped catcher Travis d’Arnaud in that deal.

Bullpen report
O’Sullivan stayed out there long enough to ease some burden on the bullpen. When Ryne Sandberg went for a mop-up man, it was Jake Diekman. The lefty has struggled this season and his standing in the bullpen has dropped significantly. Jonathan Papelbon also got an inning of work.

At the plate
The Phillies had just three extra-base hits in the three-game series, two doubles and a triple. One of the doubles came in a ninth-inning, pinch-hitting appearance by Andres Blanco in Wednesday's game.

The Mets hit seven home runs in the series. Lucas Duda hit three of them, including two Wednesday. He also had a double, his fifth in nine games against the Phillies this season.

Michael Cuddyer and Syndergaard also homered for the Mets.
