Jordan McRae officially joins Sixers' D-League affiliate

Fans often ask if the Sixers will add Jordan McRae, last year's No. 58 overall NBA draft pick, to this year's roster? The answer is not exactly.

However, the Delaware 87ers announced Thursday they had added McRae to the roster.

The Sixers hold McRae's draft rights. He spent his first pro season playing in Australia for Melbourne United.

The 6-foot-5 guard finished that season averaging 19.9 points playing 29.9 minutes per game. He was the NBL's second-leading scorer and shot 44.1 percent from the field and 35.4 percent from three-point range.

Melbourne United processed McRae's clearance last week. Because he is not under contract with the Sixers, McRae was assigned to an NBDL team. It just so happens the team was the 87ers, the Sixers' D-League affiliate, that landed him.

McRae played four seasons at Tennessee where he was fourth in the SEC in points per game with 18.7 last year. He also played for the Sixers' summer league squad and earned second-team honors in the Las Vegas league.
