Superstitious Carlos Ruiz thought ditching his sunglasses jinxed Hamels' no-hitter

Chooch. Even in the less productive tail-end of his career, you have to love him.

Carlos Ruiz joined Jason Varitek as the only MLB catchers to be behind the plate for four no-hitters. But Chooch thought he may have doomed Cole's no-no when he ditched his sunglasses for the ninth inning on Saturday.

"In the sixth inning, I got the feeling something special was going to happen today," Ruiz said. "I was just trying to do everything I did the inning before. And then the last inning, I threw my sunglasses away and then I got superstitious."

"I was like, 'Oh man...' but it ended up happening still and I'm happy."

Thankfully, we know how that happy ending went down, but it's still fun to watch Chooch talk about thinking he jinxed it as you can see above.
