NFL Notes: Adrian Peterson tells Vikings he won't attend OTAs

MINNEAPOLIS -- A person with knowledge of the situation tells The Associated Press that Adrian Peterson has informed Minnesota Vikings coach Mike Zimmer that he will not be attending the team's optional practices that start on Tuesday.

Peterson has been unhappy with the Vikings for a perceived lack of support from within the organization while he addressed child abuse charges last season. The person spoke Sunday on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly on the issue.

The Vikings have said they have no plans to trade Peterson, who could lose out on a $250,000 workout bonus by skipping the practices this week.

Peterson is not required to attend any team functions until a mandatory minicamp next month.

Patriots: Fans rally in support of Brady
FOXBOROUGH, Mass. -- Dozens of New England Patriots fans filled a parking lot at Gillette Stadium to protest the four-game suspension handed to quarterback Tom Brady over the "Deflategate" scandal.

The "Free Tom Brady" rally was organized on Facebook. Many of the fans who gathered on Sunday wore Brady football jerseys with his number 12 on the back and held signs calling on NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell to rescind the suspension.

The penalty was imposed on the four-time Super Bowl-winning quarterback after investigator Ted Wells found it was more probable than not that Brady was at least generally aware of team employees who schemed to let air out of Patriots' footballs prior to January's AFC championship game.

Goodell plans to hear Brady's appeal of the suspension.
